Rust Belt, NY
Seafood pizza feels so South of France.
As the wind rustles leaves around me, I feel transported to the sandy shores of the Mediteranée, which I first sat upon in 2018.
It was May; I'd just graduated from Tisch and was three months away from turning 25.

Photos resurrected from a 2018 blog post titled "Marseille: City of Selfies" posted on my first longterm blog, "black stylo."
(Stylo being the French word for pen.)

I used to live in these sandals. They are called Jerusalem Sandals and I bought them for $12 on ridiculous sale at American Apparel.
Fun fact: on this trip one sandal fell into the Mediteranée!
I was able to get it back.
This may have also happened in Thailand...

At the top of the city making a pilgramage to the Black Virgin Mary at Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde.
Just beginning to consciously awaken, I didn't think of it as a pilgramage per se, just something meaningful to do, see, and experience.

Fromage!
:B

In the bathroom of a restaurant when I dared myself to dine solo. I sat at the bar.
A man started talking to me and my response was the end of our conversation.
I'd wondered if I'd come across as unfriendly.
It's interesting that dining alone was such a big to do for me Once Upon A Time.
Just today I'd seen a thumbnail for a video on YouTube (reading the headlines yet again) where a young Asian-American woman was challenging herself to do things alone because the thought of doing so filled her with anxiety.
I'd thought to myself: "That's a nice problem to have; it means she's seldom alone."
At least that's what I hope it means.
Back in my days of dining-alone-dread, I often lacked companions with the same interests as mine. Same taste.
Freshman year at Penn, I went to my very first concert alone: Santigold, standing room.
I was in the very first row.
The next day, I woke up spilling out from both ends and called in sick for work.
When I showed up to my next shift my supervisor, a recent Penn grad, cocked her head at me and said something with the undertone of "I know you called out because you were out partying and hungover."
If only she knew I would have given anything for that to be the case.

Back in the Rust Belt, I imagine what it will be like to return to turquoise shores my heart adores.

I'm in no rush.

I've got my hands full with Hathorian Design--and this divine dinner of mine.

Signature cassava tortilla crust roasted with organic: tomatoes, peppers, olive oil, sea salt from my Soul Trip to Portugal, and Fronteir Co-Ops organic fajita seasoning spice blend que j'adore! Then we've got wild caught Patagonia bay scallops cooked with organic green peas & arugula mixed on top.

Oh my gods, this was delicious!!!!!!!!!!
Gonna dream about this meal.
And have it again demain ;)
Xo,
Spirit
