Leading Up To Today (My First Post)

The days leading up to today have been blessings that, at one point, would have been beyond the scope of my belief.
These blessings have come through consciously integrating deep spiritual lessons, and 👁️ look forward to sharing my revelations with you here over the course of this website's lifetime.
So, it is with great honor and joy that I officially welcome you to The Book of Spirit: my home on our greater galaxy's interweb.
A little bit about me:
My name is Spirit Hearts Song, though I have gone by many other names: Spirit Cadet, Maegan Cadet, Xandy, and even Mac (for about two days my Freshman year at Penn).
I currently live in upstate New York and my family has been living in the state since my parents emigrated Haiti and eventually landed here. My mom came when she was 12 and my dad arrived after graduating from med school in Belgium.
"If I can make it here, I'll make it anywhere!"
The mantra of New York calls to me this morning and stands as a reflection of my current experience in my home-state's lush and luscious countryside.
I moved up here with my mom and sisters in December of 2021, right before the New Year. That means as I sit and type this, it's my 4 year anniversary of living in the sticks. It will be my 4th winter here, and it is this winter that feels the most magical.
I am certainly loving my walks with Hamsa, both of us bundled against the elements and bouncing in the snow. I've learned in my time here how purifying fresh snowfall is.
As I sit in bed and type, a brand fresh layer of powder is blanketing my earth. I'm set to travel an hour downstate to take my mom to a physical therapy appointment, so I'm hoping it lets up. Yesterday, I drove an hour north to take my sister to her piano lesson at the autism center in Rochester. On the drive back, I realized that I like living this far from a "city."
(Putting city in quotes feels necessary because, growing up with NYC as my "city" reference point, Rochester feels almost suburban!)
There is never traffic driving from my small town to the city of Rochester. Going to the airport is a breeze and dropping the traveler off is a calm and peaceful occassion.
Again, having NYC as my reference point, this was initially shocking.
Soon I'll share with you my Soul Trip adventure to Portugal and Morocco. The journey began with an eight hour layover in NYC that involved a trip to a dispensary and an ancestral smoke-sesh on the shores of the Atlantic.
When I exited JFK, I felt like I had entered a dystopian sci-fi film set.
NYC is truly in its own frequency field--and fence.
There are many lifelong New Yorkers who have never once left the city. Likewise, there are many people in my tiny town who have never lived anywhere else.
That kind of destiny is terrifying to a soul like mine, meant to travel freely and learn through experiencing sacred activation sites throughout our world. Cities like Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, and New York are actually spiritual hotbeds; that is precisely the reason they were chosen as technological cages as well. But that's another story for another time perhaps.
In this moment, I've realized that even I need roots, and this time has been healing in how it's allowed me to root and finally feel at home.
The thing is: this home isn't anchored in my location; home is now a frequency that is manifested in my physical surroundings.
That is to say: I feel at home here in my apartment, but I could move tomorrow and feel right at home again.
Home for me truly is where my heart is, and my heart is alive and open, my best friend and constant companion.
For many years, I lived with my heart closed off.
Another topic we'll tawlk about! (I love when my NY accent comes out).
To summarize:
The days leading up to today have been amazing. I'm on Day 04 of my 4th 5-day fast; this is number 4 out of 8. With each fast, I focus on healing a chakra system; I started with the root and will ultimately finish the cycle with the "om chakra," which encompasses our individual and collective energetic fields.
This fast is my heart chakra opener and, let me tell you, it's been working wonders.
Key medicines:
Indica dominant cannabis
100% dark, unsweetened cacao chocolate chips
Plenty of water
Plenty of rest
Those who know me know I am a practitioner of Ancient living, choosing to align myself with the practices and spiritualities of the Ancient World(s).
Our Mayan ancestors created the record for the medicinal properties of cacao, and I humbly follow in their lead, taking each dose with reverence for the healing it bestows upon me.
All of this and more I will write to you about in my newsletter, which I now officially invite you to sign up for and receive.
So what's special about today?
"Today" started as the day I invested in purchasing the online real-estate that is this blog. "Today" rests in quotes, as it's taken me a few "todays" to complete this post.
I cherish the opportunity to bare my soul to the world, and I am so looking forward to witnessing how this space evolves.
Stay tuned if you'd like, and get in touch if you feel called.
Once again: welcome! I'm so excited we're here.
XO,
Spirit Hearts Song
