Late night in the studio

Corinne Bailey Rae has a song called “Paris Nights, New York Mornings” which calls on the romanticized dream of both cities.

Being in my messy studio with a beetle buzzing overhead is my small town equivalent.

I’m working on this bag, the first of my shamanic portal purses and it’s given me quite the warm welcome back into bag making.

This past week has found me quietly avoiding the studio, and in lieu of sewing, I’ve been painting, hand-stitching bag charms, and discovering my Aquatru water filter has funded pedophilic horrors. More on that in a video that will be out in a day or two.

That discovery rocked my world and was the catalyst I needed to remember that this type of work—creative shamanism—is needed now more than ever.

I simply can’t go on closing my eyes and crossing my fingers that someone else will cast the darkness away that we’re seemingly all too scared to face.

Chapter Members, you know how tough this summer has been for me. Energetically, I’ve had to face the brunt of my inner child’s wounds.

Little bit of life lately…

After yesterday and today, I feel like the most important excavation of my inner light has occurred, with my inner child revealing the biggest block to our abundance.

More on that in a video to come!

I pause to finish constructing the bag—

When I wrote this bag gave me a warm welcome, what I meant is that I had to do several parts over—mainly the interior label which had its own almost comical saga.

And through it all I was patient instead of frustrated, confident in my abilities instead of doubting them because hiccups occurred.

This new boxier A-star style is a new direction for the collection and I don’t have one of my own really. I have two testers, but not one beautifully and “perfectly” made.

After tonight, I am proud to announce all this has changed; this bag is mine.

It feels like my very first A*, even though I have several of the old style.

But this is A* 3.0 and this is the style I can see myself making for as long as I make A*s.

Darlings, I’ve been accepted to a market in Philly on Thanksgiving weekend, and I’m going!

I’ll only have a 6-foot table and it will challenge me to get creative as to how I can make the most of that space.

Perhaps that’s why I was drawn to watch a slew of vendors vlogging at anime conventions; they typically have only a 6-foot table and they are masters at building up.

Back in the studio, Hathor glistens before me.

It doesn’t have to be said between us that I’m on the right track.

This past week definitely felt like a personal retrograde: seemingly moving backward but simply slowing down to be redirected.

And being directed is divine.

Being guided is sacred and it’s the best gift I can give myself.

I pause to warm up water for flossing—

Now with my teeth brushed and flossed, I type in bed. The salt lamp beside me casts a rosy glow in the room. I’ve got a sweatshirt on and a pile of blankets on top of me; change most certainly is in the air. Hamsa is cuddled in the confines of her castle. She’s sporting a sweatshirt, too.

The weather has been wonderful with sunny end-of-summer days, but autumn’s approach is undeniable with the biting chill that nips once the sun sets.

It’s a New York (very early) morning—1:53 AM. It’s the start of the work day in Paris.

And while I do hope to breathe Parisian air at least once more in this lifetime, there is no place I’d rather be than in this bed in this bedroom with all the promise this moment holds.

I am alive; I am creating; I am wondrously content.

Xo,

Spir
